The space

The gym is bright — large windows along its length and natural light during the day. It is a boxing gym, but not a basement one.

The working surface is matted, so you can drill footwork and floor recovery work without wrecking your knees. Heavy bags hang in a row with enough space between them to work combinations with movement.

Equipment

  • Heavy bags for power work and combinations
  • Speed ball for rhythm and coordination
  • Coaching pads for partner technical work
  • Loaner gloves in several sizes
  • Skipping ropes for the warm-up

If it is your first time, you need none of the above — see what to bring.

The atmosphere

Groups are mixed in level and in age. A typical session has people in their first month training alongside people with years behind them. Nobody shouts, nobody mocks beginners, and sparring is optional and controlled.
